Long-Term Compassion Focused THERAPY

An open-ended approach which may last one, two or several years is a good choice of treatment for people who have experienced trauma in childhood or whose early years were characterised by loss, chaos or the subtle trauma of not being properly cared for or seen and listened to.

If the environment you grew up in was one in which you could not develop trusting bonds, long-term, compassion focused therapy gives you the opportunity to have a second chance at early childhood in the context of what Carl Rogers called unconditional positive regard.

This is a chance to be re-parented or, as one of my clients prefers to call it, de-parented.
